nyanoha, she is the number 1 for me on the anime/manga :D
I pretty much love all of the characters, even the villains(there wouldn't be any excitement if they weren't there) But I have to say that Fate takes the number one spot in my list of favorite anime characters. I'm not going to explain all the things I love about her since Killuan pretty much said everything that was needed to be said about Fate ^^
Ummm, for me without a doubt is Fate, she has such a sad past and yet, she overcome everything and becomes this sweet and strong character (*cof cof* and the most beautiful and sexy of all of them...*cof cof*). Right behind her is Nanoha (the only one that deserves Fate-chan *kya*), then Hayate and Signum, etc, etc... but the truth is that I love almost every character, even the bad guys are so mean that I like them as bad guys (*insert evil laugh here*). But yes, the only one that I feel has nothing to do in MSLN is Yuuno.
without a doubt I'd choose Nanoha over Fate in all Nanoha series. sure, in comparison of beautiful artworks Fate's build is more prettier than Nanoha. but in term of persona and characteristic I am more into Nanoha. she is the strongest mage, I love her 'shoot first, talk later' she also very perceptive with her surrounding but choose a simple life to train a newbie. Fate can be such worrywart but yeah that her trait that I love about so caring but most fictions I read in FF.net ruin both Nanoha and Fate personality...

while I have no particular overall favorite character I would say I like Nanoha Hayate Fate Reinforce(first one) an Vita as they all seem to represent different aspects of my own character
I think main character still the best. But beside her I think Fate is great too. They sure is become a great couple, right :3

Hmm, well definitely Nanoha and Fate as my favorite characters, but I like Signum too.
Definitely Fate. Angsty background is appealing to me plus she got a Nanoha to kept her sane and blah and thus she grew up normal and stuff. Lovely story.
Next to Fate would be Erio-kun. He's Fate's son/brother after all. I like.

Fate is my favorite character out of the whole series. Thought that doesn't mean I don't like any of the other characters. :3
Hayate mostly her Doujin counter part granted her main stream aka the manga and anime version is kinda cool too but the doujin counter part frankly seems more inclined to use her guardians :D if you get what i mean ;D

My favorite character is... Yuuno!
Given his lack of screentime, he still shows how awesome he is. He's the only one shown to perform magic without a device and is quite calm and level headed for his age.
Wish the authors would develop him more, but it seems that won't happen. *sigh*

As strange as it may sound, the authors are actually doing me a favor. See if I got developed any more, I'd already be dead (at the hands of raging NanoFate fans, ehehehe...)
For me it's Fate all the way. From the way her Character is introduced, to seeing the truth about her origins and the way she still moves on just turns her from an already good character to a character you just gotta love.
And while it may be true that a lot, or most of her development was sparked by Nanoha, the fact that she was able to recover from such a mental breakdown in such a short amount of time makes her so badass. Yet, as seen in Nanoha A's, deepdown she still hasn't completely moved on which makes her even more likeable. Seeing her cry when she met Alicia was really heartwrenching, the whole scene in general.
You can really feel how much she wanted to have a family like this.
I think Fate is also the character that made me cry the most when watching Nanoha. No matter how often I watch it, I will probably always cry when I see her mental breakdown in the first Season, or her dream in the 2nd season. ;_;

If you haven't already watched it, I'd recommend the watching Nanoha the movie 2nd A's. They made the dream scene even better.The improved animation and something Fate said near the end of the dream scene really compounded the emotional power it already has.
I saw it and I agree, the scenes in the movie are much stronger in general. I also felt that the relationship of Fate and Nanoha was displayed even stronger in the movie as it was in the series.
