Pictures in signature

Ok this is going to sound like a total noob question, but how do you guys get the pictures into your signatures? I tried, but all I'm getting is text.

More specifically, I'm trying to get a picture from Anime planet into my signature. It basically shows how much time I've spent watching anime & reading manga.

1. you host the pic into an image host
2. then copy the image with the [img] thing on the beginning and end
3. paste
4. ???
